The trip so far…

What a journey it’s been just to get to Jordan. It all started with a 4 hour delay at Norfolk Airport. JFK was having nasty wind and rain so they delayed everything going in. Once we got in the air, I was too late to catch my flight from JFK to Jordan but the group sponsoring the tour put me up in a hotel on the edge of Queens. It was truly raining cats and dogs in NYC…the landing was a pretty rough one.

Then I got to take the airport tour of NYC – coming in to JFK and then flying out of Laguardia – not how I envisioned my first trip to the big city but it worked.

So Friday, I woke up in NYC, flew to Chicago and then flew all night and landed at 5:30 local time in Amman, Jordan. So far, I’ve only seen from the airport to the hotel at night, but it seems pretty cool. Gas is 6ish JD /litre which would be about $20/gal. There’s lots of traffic with people just going for it changing lanes and squeezing in small spaces.

I’m at the Amman Marriott, which is an amazing hotel. You have to stop at a guard to have your vehicle checked out just to get on the premises and then have your bags checked at security at the front door. Let’s just say I feel really safe here.

Well, time to crash. I get to go on a tour of Amman tomorrow, some historical sites and local neighborhoods…I’m really excited to be here and just want to soak it all up.
